Das Katharinenkloster liegt am Fuße eines Berges, von dem viele glauben, dass es sich um den biblischen Berg Sinai handelt, und verfügt über ein Erbe, das bis ins vierte Jahrhundert n. Chr. zurückreicht und zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehört. St. Catherine’s ist immer noch ein funktionierendes Kloster und verfügt über Verteidigungsmauern, die Kapellen, eine Bibliothek, ein Museum und einen angeblich Nachfahren des biblischen brennenden Dornbuschs beherbergen. Obwohl die meisten Touristen es nicht zu diesen Sehenswürdigkeiten schaffen, werden diejenigen, die es schaffen, mit einem unglaublichen und bewegenden Erlebnis belohnt.
