Haller Park, formerly known as Nature Trail, was the man-made sanctuary to receive the United Nations Environmental Program Global 500 Roll of Honor Award and today this small preserve on the north coast of Mombasa is a model for other reclamation projects. What was once limestone quarries is now a thriving ecosystem of forest, grasslands, and ponds with walking trails for you to view the fenced wildlife, such as hippo, giraffe, antelope, buffalo, and smaller mammals, as well as bird species, such as eagle, sandpiper, weaver, stork, kingfisher, ibis, owl, heron, egret and many others.

Day 1:Haller Park and Nguuni Nature Sanctuary
Highlights: This is a full-day wildlife and Nature Tour which takes you to the Haller Park Sanctuary in Mombasa and Nguuni Nature Sanctuary.
Itinerary:
This tour takes you to Haller Park, once a quarry. Today it is transformed into a human-made paradise; it has the best eco-system within the coastal region. Proceed to Nguuni Nature Sanctuary, lunch at Ngomongo villages. After lunch, you will be able to proceed with the tour to Nguuni Nature Sanctuary, only 4 kilometers away from the Bamburi Cement Factory, Mombasa; this small SanctuarySanctuary offers spectacular sunsets over a beautiful landscape. The Sanctuary, kindly leased by Bamburi Cement Ltd., is being developed by the Trust and with the help of the neighboring communities. A large Doum Palm crowned by Leopard Orchids scattered in the grassland. The valleys consist of rain-fed ponds inhabited by water, birds, and fish, or if you do not want some, you are driven back to your hotel.
