Fairmont The Norfolk is Nairobi's most historic and luxurious 5-star hotel, located on Harry Thuku Road in the city center, just 5 minutes from Nairobi's City Center and 10 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Built by Maj. C.G.R. Ringer and R. Aylmer Winearls, the hotel opened its doors on December 25, 1904, to early settlers seeking refuge from Kenya's harsh conditions, making it over 120 years old and a true icon of hospitality.

The hotel features 170 guest rooms and suites across five main blocks, each ranging from 1 to 2 stories high, with signature Tudor-style architecture maintained since original construction. The Delamere & Acacia Wing were refurbished in 2012 to give rooms a modern touch while preserving their charm and unique personality. Accommodations include 108 luxury rooms and 17 suites with stylish interiors, premium bath products, upgraded décor, and sophisticated touches of colonial grandeur. Suites offer separate living areas, and deluxe courtyard rooms feature beautiful views of the iconic tropical garden with exotic birds, flowers, and vintage transportation collection.

The Norfolk offers 5 food and beverage outlets, including Tatu Restaurant (American steakhouse offering steak and seafood), Lord Delamere Terrace (hotel restaurant featuring classic cuisine and cocktails), and Cin Cin Bar (wine bar with international labels). The hotel serves a highly-rated breakfast and offers themed dinners, happy hour, and live music/entertainment.

Facilities include a heated outdoor swimming pool, health club with gym, sauna, steam room, spa, and couples' massage, 8 conference rooms (largest seating 175 delegates), business center with internet access, 200 outdoor parking spaces, gift shops, private 4-acre tropical garden, evening entertainment programs, and personal trainer services. The hotel offers golf courses within 3 km and various wellness packages.

The hotel sits on 4 acres of land with its own private tropical garden and is located near major Kenyan attractions including National Museums of Kenya, Kenya National Theatre, French & German Cultural Centers, Nairobi National Park, Giraffe Center, Karen Blixen Museum, and Sheldrick's Elephant Orphanage. The hotel expanded in 1999 and was renovated for its centennial celebrations in 2004, and was sold to Nepalese investment company Chaudhary in 2020
