Dining

The restaurant serves an excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner using many local Zanzibar ingredients such as fresh seafood and exotic spices. Activities include snorkeling, diving (PADI center – Unguja Divers), fishing, dolphin encounters, and exploring Zanzibar. Kizimkazi is well known for dolphins inhabiting the area. From September to December, humpback whales are often seen. Beach activities include private barbeque lunches on deserted islands. Guests can explore Jozani Forest Reserve, Stone Town, spice farms, Prison Island, and local village tours.

The flora and fauna at Unguja Lodge is beautiful with very old mango trees and many baobab trees. The site offers a home to rare red colobus monkeys (regular visitors), black tail monkeys, and dik-diks. A small nature trail (about 50m) leads to a small permanent tidal beach. There is a PADI dive center with access to largely unexplored dive sites. The house reef offers beautiful coral, tropical fish, reef sharks, barracudas, and sometimes whale sharks. The lodge is rustic in appearance with interesting design and great views of the sunset.
