Kibo safari camp is a luxury tented camp based in Amboseli National Park, set at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5896m. Situated 140 kilometers south of Nairobi. Amboseli National Park is the second most popular national park in Kenya.
The camp consists of 61 spacious self-contained tents sheltered by traditional African ˜Makuti' thatched roofs.
Room dcor: These tents give one luxury combined with comfort in the wild of Africa. All tents are en suite with built-in showers and toilets. Tents can be customized to sleep singles, doubles, triples, or family bed configurations. Besides, it has available an open terraced Restaurant and Bars under acacia trees overlooking the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Room amenities: an electric fence surrounds the camp to keep the large animals out. Even so, they are so close that you can comfortably sit on your porch and watch elephants and other animals strolling and grazing close by. All tents are equipped with a sink (hot and cold running water), shower stall (hot and cold running water), and toilet flushing water. The water comes from an 85m deep borehole. It is crystal clear, potable, and tastes wonderful.
In addition to close elephant watching, some of the other possible activities from Ol Kanjau camp include day and night game drives through the plains of Amboseli, bush walks, bird watching in the vast wetlands, and swamps of Amboseli and the woodlands. The Rainy has a special and unique relationship with the Masai allowing for visits to neighboring Masai settlements. For a real thrill, guided walks with habituated baboon troops. Youll also get an inside view into the ongoing conservation ecology studies, which help balance the needs of pastoral people and wildlife and ecosystem conservation.
Special Feature: Mike and Judy Rainy, their daughter Jessica and son-in-law Jeff Worden are conservationists and ecologists who uniquely provide Amboseli's ideal base. One may observe and share in the lives of these most magnificent elephants. The Rainy and Wordens combine ecotourism and conservation science in an exceptional way that helps visitors play a part in securing a long term future for these elephants in Amboseli. Their goal is to help secure an area that can grow with the expanding Amboseli elephant population and accommodate the needs of the Maasai pastoral people who own the land around Amboseli Park. Ol Kanjau Camp reveals in a very special way the ecological, behavioral, and conservation patterns of animal lives to a visitor that can take a few days to appreciate, observe and wonder about the accumulation of natural history information that the Rainy and Wordens and many other have taken decades to build.
Kibo Safari Camp is only a 4 hours drive away from Nairobi city, and with the newly built tarmac road from Email to Loitoktok, you are sure to get here comfortably. It is 15km away from the Amboseli airstrip and a five minutes drive from the park gate.

We wanted to do safari with my wife in Kenya. Diwaka Safaris organized our trip for 17 days professionally. We were very satisfied with all services. The best part was our guide Patrick Waweru who did an excellent job.
