A beautiful tented camp right in the heart of the action. As with many migratory camps, the emphasis is not on the camp itself, which is usually fairly simple, but on the experience of being out in the bush and surrounded by game. This, Olakira Camp executes really well and, for those looking to have a more "raw" experience while on safari then we would recommend either here or Nomads.
The sister camp to Sayari, Olakira Camp is the roving alternative and, like Nomads, is a mobile tented camp. With this comes the flexibility and reliability of being near the game...but the drawback of losing some of the comfort of a permanent camp. Olakira stays up in the very north of the Serengeti for out summer months and then shifts down to the southern plains for the calving season from December until March.
NUMBER OF ROOMS: Olakira consists of 6 guest tents and 2 common area tents Room amenities & decor: The guest tents are spacious and comfortable with large king-size or twin beds and convenient bathrooms. Each tent has its own private verandah with an amazing view overlooking the Serengeti. Bathrooms are extremely comfortable for a mobile camp, with shower, wash basin and an environmentally friendly toilet.
Special features: The Serengeti hosts the largest concentration of wildlife in the world, and is home to one of the great wonders in the world, the Great Migration. Over a million wildebeest and some 600,000 zebra move through the eco-system, with lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, wild dog and crocodile making sure only the strongest survive. The sheer volume combined with the daily dramas of life and death makes this an experience that will be the star of the stories you tell years and years from now.
The southern and central Serengeti areas are renowned for fabulous wildlife viewing. Drives in these areas, short trips or full day explorations give you close encounters with astonishing numbers of animals. Lunch in the bush while enjoying an amazing view and delicious food and wine, is a welcome interruption to otherwise action packed days.
Olakira Camp operates from June to December in the central Serengeti. Here, balloon safaris give you the unique experience of observing the animals, and the Serengeti landscapes from above.
Back in camp, story telling, playing chess, star gazing or simply listening to the great sounds of the bush are some of the activities you can enjoy back in the comfort of the intimate Olakira Camp.A beautiful tented camp right in the heart of the action. The tents themselves are the usual fare...comfortable beds, ensuite bucket showers and long drop loos, and an outside covered area to relax during the day to read or watch game as it wanders through and past the camp. These tents are a great way to get the feel for the bush...it can be a little disconcerting to wake up at 5 in the morning to hear a giraffe munching on the bush next to you....but it is also something you will never forget!!

We wanted to do safari with my wife in Kenya. Diwaka Safaris organized our trip for 17 days professionally. We were very satisfied with all services. The best part was our guide Patrick Waweru who did an excellent job.
