Hemingways Malindi

Hemingways Resort enjoys a beachfront location within the world-famous Watamu National Marine Park and is approximately 110 kms from Mombassa and 25 kms from Malindi. Hemingways has been voted Best Beach Resort in Kenya for several years.

All Hemingways rooms and suites are extremely comfortable, have ocean views, are within yards of the beach, and benefit from 24-hour room service. All have bathrooms with showers en-suite. There are air-conditioning and fans throughout, & rooms also have mosquito nets, personal safes, and room fridges.

ROOM AMENITIES: The majority of the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, and every room has a mosquito net over the beds. 9 rooms have a sea view, and the other rooms are spread out in tropical gardens a short walk away from the beach.

There are two luxury cottages situated in a private walled garden with their own swimming pool. Each cottage has two double en-suite bedrooms with a living room and veranda overlooking the pool. Sea view rooms have tea and coffee delivered outside their rooms in the morning. Cots can be supplied on request.

A new addition to the Driftwood is three luxury self-catering villas situated in secluded private premises behind the club with a private swimming pool. Two of the villas have 2 double air-conditioned bedrooms, and one villa has a third single room. Each villa has its own kitchen, living/dining room, and veranda overlooking the swimming pool. If they so wish, guests can make full use of the Driftwood facilities and, if they prefer not to do their own catering, dine at the Driftwood Beach Club.

Food & Drink

The restaurant overlooks the Indian Ocean and seats 200 people, with additional seating for 100 on the outside terrace.Hemingways offers a wide range of international styles, ranging from sophisticated recipes with delicate sauces to simple cooking of the finest ingredients. Table d’hote’s menus are a mixture of international and local favorites, with daily vegetarian options. Serves buffets on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday lunch, including Mongolian, Italian and Indian specialties. Live cooking is a major feature, including the main dishes and pasta and salad stations.

During the calmer months (December to March), dinner is served on the terrace, with the sounds of the sea, the light of the moon and the stars, and the rustle of the trade winds in the palms for company.

Excursions to local places of interest include Arabuko-Sokoke Forest, a unique stretch of coastal forest with rich biodiversity, Gedi Ruins, a ruined 12th-century town, and other local attractions.
