Kambi Ya Tembo Camp

Kambi Ya Tembo Camp

Kambi Ya Tembo is a spectacular tented camp situated on the north face of Mount Kilimanjaro in Sinya, a 600-square-kilometer private concession bordering Amboseli National Park in Kenya. Located northwest of Kilimanjaro in tranquil, undiscovered Sinya private reserve on the border of Kenya, the camp offers incomparable scenery with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Ol Doinyo Longido, Ol Doinyo Orok peaks, and the Amboseli plains. It's one of the few places in Africa where you can observe large elephants over 50 years old with massive tusks.

About

The camp was created in close collaboration with the indigenous Maasai population, with land leased from them. It is furnished and decorated in a hearty, down-to-earth style, offering a unique nature and cultural experience. The camp is eco-friendly with electric power supplied by solar panels and a generator as backup. The semi-arid land of Sinya and Elerai has an abundance of natural riches and is home to some of the largest elephants in East Africa.

Rooms

The camp consists of 12-14 luxury tents (sources vary: 12, 14, or 20 tents) situated in the shade of acacia trees. Each tent is a permanent luxury tent with private en-suite bathroom facilities, including shower and private terrace/veranda. All tents have ample sun decks where guests can sit and watch the natural world pass by. Tents offer views from the veranda over the Amboseli plains or the impressive Kilimanjaro.

Dining

The camp features a main building with restaurant where guests can enjoy excellent meals both indoors and outdoors. Picnic meals are available upon request. The restaurant offers a comfortable dining experience with the stunning backing of the African savannah and Kilimanjaro views.

Activities

The camp offers game drives (including evening drives) in open vehicles, guided walking safaris escorted by Maasai warriors, bush walks, and hiking opportunities in Kilimanjaro National Park. Guests can enjoy cultural visits to local Maasai villages, market visits, and school visits. The area provides excellent game viewing opportunities including giraffes, wildebeast, gazelles, and elephants that are only a few feet from the vehicle.

Wildlife & Nature

The camp offers spectacular landscapes with fantastic views and excellent game viewing. The area is filled with a variety of waterfowl and birds of prey, including colorful weavers with nests throughout the property. Guests can observe large elephants over 50 years old with massive tusks, giraffes, wildebeast, and gazelles. The semi-arid land has an abundance of natural riches.
