It is a uniquely constructed magical Africa resort, with a choice of 76 rooms built in single storey African style rondavels - each with two tastefully decorated rooms with a separate changing room leading into the superbly appointed en-suite bathroom. It nestles on the beachfront of a 25 acre stretch of subtly landscaped gardens decked with over 1000 palm trees.

ROOM D'COR AND AMENITIES: On re-opening, and with the integration of the NEW rooms into the existing Hotel, the property Built-in single storey African style rondavels, each with two tastefully decorated rooms with a separate changing room leading into superbly appointed en-suite bathroom2 large beds or one king-size double bed all with mosquito nets; Separate dressing room; En suite bathrooms/shower; Spacious Veranda; Split level air conditioners; Ceiling fans; Mini-bars; Hairdryers; Telephones and satellite TV.

Food & Drink

The Main restaurant is beautifully located with views over the swimming pool and the ocean. Breakfast and dinner are offered within the meal plan arrangements: a variety of theme buffets and table dhote at dinner and live cooking buffets at breakfast. There will also be a soft, all inclusive option.

The Bar is located at the swimming pool and scheduled to serve a full range of wines, spirits, minerals, and fresh juices as well as coffees and cappuccino. An ideal place for guests to sip cold drinks, ice creams and milkshakes or have a meal of seafood specialties, pizza as well as other light fare, all served in an informal setting with toes in the sand and the ocean right in front. Then there is the superbly arranged all-day restaurant The Sultans Plate, which is situated at the edge of the Ocean. Its wooden deck sweeps its way around the beach.

General Facilities

A fully equipped Business Centre is available to guests offering Secretarial services, Computer centre, 24-hour E-mail access & Fax and photocopying services. CONFERENCE FACILITIES; The hotel boasts a fully air-conditioned Private Meeting Room able to hold a maximum of 30 people sitting in theatre style. Equipment available consists of a Slide projector; Overhead projector; A PA system, and an LCD projection system. Geared toward small groups, this is an excellent place for a private dinner as well.

Special feature: Sultan Sands, like the sister Hotels, will be an environmentally friendly holiday destination. The following are some of the steps and practices which will be implemented in order to play our rightful role in the protection of our environment:

Water recycling plant to recycles all room, kitchen, and laundry waste. The purified water is then used to maintain the beautiful tropical gardens Incinerator - used to incinerate all garden and kitchen rubbish. Generators in soundproof structures to prevent noise pollution. All refrigerators and air conditioners to comply with regulations concerning the use of CFC's and other ozone harmful gases All guestrooms fitted with modern energy-saving devices and all electrical installations to employ the latest in energy-efficient technology All solid roof areas designed to allow for the collection of rainwater, which is then stored, treated and used to supplement other water supplies The gardens will be purposely landscaped using indigenous trees, plants, shrubs and ground cover to attract the varied birds of the island and to provide an insight to visitors of the diverse tropical vegetation on the island.

The Sultan Sands Island Resort stands where, until 2006, the La Villa Beach Club stood - then a standard 20 roomed hotel next to the Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa. After its acquisition by the Group, it was transformed into a unique, one-of-a-kind holiday facility. It is now a resort befitting its name association with the fabled Omani Sultans who ruled the Zanzibar Islands for centuries.
