The Spice Restaurant hallmarks Authentic Zanzibari and International cuisines in a relaxed ambiance. Makuti thatch Ceilings, which portrays the Zanzibar architecture that dates back before the 12th century, with Arabian High Windows ornamentations; you get to view the elegant Swimming Pool (one of the largest in Zanzibar Island), which provides the ideal backdrop for a relaxed dining experience.

The Rooms

Room decor: 12 of our Standard Rooms, each with twin ¾ beds, are designed and decorated to exude a true taste of Zanzibar life. The rooms are built and dressed in a coral rag with terrazzo floors, giving them a unique feel that literally blends into the landscape. Each unit has a built-in writing or vanity desk and an open private balcony; the remaining 24 Standard Rooms, again with twin ¾ beds, are decorated in typical Zanzibar style. They include locally hand made features, polished stone floors, built-in writing or vanity desks, and an open private balcony, which completes the ambiance of comfort and convenience.

The luxury rooms are large enough to accommodate 2 adults in twin double beds and 2 children on twin single futons, which convert to lounge chairs when not in use. Each Chalet is tastefully decorated to include local features. The hand-carved double entrance doorway leads off a spacious covered balcony, furnished with cushioned outdoor relaxers, creating a perfect place from which to absorb that famous Zanzibar sunset, over the ocean, sun downer in hand. Each room has its own bar fridge, which may be stocked from the main bar at your request..

Guests are usually served from the ala carte restaurant menu containing local sea food and international dishes, but also the hotel arranges barbecues on guests' request. The well-stocked and all service bar provides many refreshing drinks.

In Uroa, there are only 6 hotels and still has that unique Zanzibar feeling, not yet discovered by " beach boys" Tamarind is well suited for families with small children; the beach is safe and undisturbed. Tamarind is situated in the middle of the east coast, approximately 35 km from Stone Town, which takes about 40 minutes along tarmac road all the way. The nearest village is Uroa Village, a traditional Zanzibari fishing village that remains relatively unchanged by tourism. The Tamarind has recently been refurbished to include a Swimming Pool and new bathrooms throughout. We think this is now a very keenly priced option for the standard and will suit anyone looking for a true escape, away from the Beach Boys on one of the paradise beaches Zanzibar is famous for.
