Kirurumu Manyara Lodge

Kirurumu Manyara Lodge is a 3-star tented lodge set high on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, enjoying a marvellous, uplifting and panoramic view eastward over Lake Manyara, the Rift floor, and Mt. Losimingori. Located on 13 acres (5 hectares) of land in Northern Tanzania, the lodge sits behind where the Ngorongoro Highlands rise in green and fertile splendour, forming the gateway to Ngorongoro Crater and Olduvai Gorge. 

Rooms

The lodge offers 27-31 tented cottages (sources vary) including 27 tented rooms, 2 honeymoon suites, and 2 family cottages, all environmentally conscious and set up in harmony with nature among acacia trees and tall grass. Each tented cottage is mounted on a plinth with a wooden veranda/balcony, tastefully decorated in Safari style, and positioned a short distance from the communal lodge along well-laid pathways. All units are spaced well apart across the 13-acre site, providing privacy and comfort.

Room Features

Each accommodation includes a personal veranda overlooking the Rift Valley escarpment and Lake Manyara, spacious bedroom with double bed, twin beds, or triples, bedside tables, lighting, and a writing desk and chair. All rooms are en-suite with flush toilet, washbasin, and shower with hot and cold running water, provided by staff. Each tent has 24-hour electricity, drinking water is provided, and facilities include fully ensuite bathrooms, WiFi in designated area, and housekeeping services. The honeymoon suites and family cottages offer extra space and particularly beautiful views.

Dining

The lodge features an open restaurant with beautiful views over the park, offering a selection of delicious local and European dishes including tasty home-cooked food. There's a fully equipped bar with sunny terrace/deck (perfect for sundowners after safari), a fireplace, and a small boutique. The bar terrace is the perfect spot for a sundowner after an exciting safari day. Additional facilities include WiFi in designated area, housekeeping services, and the lodge offers good service with a relaxed atmosphere.

Activities

Activities include game drives in Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire National Park, and Ngorongoro area, Masai-guided bush walks, ethno-botanical walks, mountain biking (on request), treks & hikes, game viewing, balloon safari, and visits to the authentic local market at Mto Wa Mbu. The lodge is an ideal starting point for photography including early morning hikes to capture sunrise, and flycamping (on request). The spectacular views from the bar and verandas make it perfect for wildlife viewing and photography.
