Naibor Camps

Naibor Camps

Naibor Camp (meaning "space" in Maasai) is a luxury tented camp located deep in the heart of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, hidden in a grove of woodland on the banks of the Talek River. The camp was designed to give the most authentic luxury safari experience and the best wildlife viewing in the Maasai Mara, with its prime location along the Talek River being unrivaled for seeing and photographing animals year-round, especially during the Great Migration (July-October) when over a million wildebeest, zebra, and antelopes migrate from the Serengeti.

Rooms

Naibor Camp consists of three distinct camps: Main Naibor (7 en-suite safari tents), Little Naibor (2 two-bedroom family tents sharing a huge private living space), and Naibor Wilderness (3 Meru-style tents). All tents are en-suite with flush toilets, safari bucket showers (hot water on request), double beds, living areas, storage chests, and verandas with tables and chairs for private dining. The Main Naibor tents are spacious and uncluttered with Anthony Russell beds, while Little Naibor offers even better private family accommodations with loungers, tables, chairs, and large rugs.

General Facilities

The communal areas are shared among all three Naibor camps and include a mess tent with lounge and dining room, outdoor dining area, tented spa, and boutique. The mess tent contains a lounge with comfortable seating and a dining room with elegant tables and chairs, offering amazing views of the Talek River. The boutique stocks vibrant Maasai jewellery, and the spa offers free head-and-neck massages on the first evening. Proceeds from the shop are ploughed into local ventures.

Activities

Activities include game drives (early morning, late afternoon, and full-day), hot air balloon safaris (with champagne breakfast), guided nature walks, cultural village visits, bird watching, and cycling. The camp is situated between two major lion prides (Ridge and Olkiombo), with abundant wildlife including lion, cheetah, elephant, zebra, rhino, leopard, buffalo (the Big Five), and many other predators and herbivores. Full-day game drives are recommended during the Great Migration months.

The camp is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals pass through. Guests are escorted after dark as a matter of course. The camp is minimalist luxury with classical safari style, using pale canvas tents decorated to complement rather than dominate the environment, where indoors and outdoors merge seamlessly.
