Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge is an all-suite, wood-log cabin retreat set on 50 acres of pristine virgin Tanzanian bush in the Ngorongoro volcanic landscape, located just steps from Ngorongoro Game Reserve Gate and a 20-minute drive from Ngorongoro Crater – home to Africa's densest concentration of wildlife. The lodge is elegantly built mainly from natural stone and local wood, harmoniously merging with its natural surroundings and providing panoramic views of the volcanic landscape. It's situated in Karatu, Arusha, Tanzania, offering a sanctuary of tranquility in the heart of the African wilderness.
Rooms
The lodge features 20 spacious luxury suites, each 130m² (1,400 sq ft) in size, designed in a traditional wood log cabin style as individual cottages. Each suite includes open fireplaces in both the bedroom and living room, a king-size canopy bed with fine linens, comfortable living room with armchairs, sofa bed, and coffee table, en-suite facilities with solar water heating, spacious bathroom with large shower, two hand wash basins, private WC, in-room safe, and large private viewing deck/terrace with sofa and dining area. A butler is on call for each suite, adding to the luxurious experience.
Restaurant
The main lodge comprises a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, spa, and conference facilities. The all-inclusive property offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, plus afternoon tea at the pool or lounge, with fine dining included. Guests can indulge in relaxation at the Mvua African Rain Spa (Earth & Rain Spa), which presents refreshing and revitalizing treatments featuring natural ingredients and locally sourced plants and flowers. The swimming pool provides a refreshing spot to unwind after full-day game drives.
Activities
Game-viewing is superb as Ngorongoro Crater has one of the highest densities of wildlife found anywhere in Africa, with visits to Lake Manyara and Olduvai Gorge also possible. The lodge is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through; guests are always escorted after dark as a matter of course, and staff escort guests if they have concerns about walking around the camp. The open-air fireplaces in suites create a cozy atmosphere for African wilderness evenings.
Important guest information: The lodge is not suitable for families with young children under age 6 due to safety concerns relating to balconies/decks/walkways.
