Ikoma Tented Camp lies in the savannah areas of the Serengeti plains, surrounded by a grove of acacia trees and strategically positioned on the path of the annual Great Migration between Kenya's Masai Mara and Tanzania's Serengeti. The camp is situated just outside the Serengeti National Park boundary, about 2km from the Fort Ikoma park entry gate along the wildebeest migration corridor, offering an affordable alternative to expensive camps inside the park.
Rooms
The camp has been upgraded and now boasts 35 spacious semi-luxury "Meru" tents (some sources mention 31 tents), each raised on a wooden platform with thatched roofs and equipped with en-suite bathrooms featuring bucket showers and flush toilets. Each tent has comfortable furnishings, mosquito nets, dressing tables, wardrobes, and a private verandah where guests can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding bush where wildlife frequently roams.
Facilities
The central facilities include a thatched bar and dining room under traditional grass thatch, with a large fireplace that serves as an ideal spot to unwind with a drink after long days of exciting game viewing. The camp has electricity and hot water supplied by 12V solar power with an inverter for recharging batteries. The central restaurant and bar area provide an ideal way of spending evenings after game drives, with a campfire place for evening relaxation.
