Kia Lodge

Kia Lodge is located in north-east Tanzania close to Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), known affectionately as "the door to Tanzania." The lodge is situated on a secluded hill just 0.9 mi (1.4 km) from the airport (less than 5 minutes drive), set amidst beautiful savannah landscape and rolling savanna plains with the iconic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. It serves as an ideal oasis for arriving/departing Tanzania, climbing Kilimanjaro, or traveling to northern safari destinations.

Atmosphere & Design

The lodge embodies the African spirit with the atmosphere of a safari camp, featuring winding paths leading to individual thatched chalets that provide warm reception. It has a simple, relaxed atmosphere with no pretence, and the staff are helpful and experienced with weary travelers arriving after long flights. The lodge ensures guests feel welcome with minimal fuss at check-in, cossetting them on arrival or return home.

Rooms

Kia Lodge offers 40 spacious thatched brick cottages tucked in secluded positions throughout the savanna gardens. All rooms are air-conditioned with mountain views, featuring extra-long beds for great night's sleep, twin or double beds with mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms with bath or shower, simple wooden seating, African artefacts, safety deposit boxes, ceiling fans, desks, and toiletries. Rooms have patios/balconies, good light and views of the property, and seating areas.

Restaurant

The tropical restaurant serves African and continental cuisine, featuring famous Tinga Tinga paintings and offering a daily-changing four-course menu plus à la carte and fixed lunch menu. Breakfast is served at large banquet-style dining tables set in a horseshoe shape to invite conversation. The lodge provides free full breakfast.

Swimming Pool & Views

The spectacular swimming pool is located on top of a hill, affording a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, the Maasai steppe/plains, and the Blue Mountains. The pool area has a flagged area with several sun-shaded recliners and towels provided, where guests can enjoy refreshing swims while gazing across the plains to the mountains.

The lodge offers 24-hour free airport shuttle, free parking, free Wi-Fi, 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service, spa services, massage treatments, library, garden, and terrace. Additional facilities include a curio shop and Tanzanite shop on-site. Laundry service is available at extra cost.

Activities
Activities include visits to Maasai villages, day trips to Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks, visits to hot springs at Arusha National Park, spa and massage services. Some activities are at extra cost.
