Singita Sasakwa Lodge

Singita Sasakwa Lodge

Singita Sasakwa Lodge is a premium 5-star Edwardian manor house perched on top of Sasakwa Hill within the magnificent private Singita Grumeti Reserve in northern Tanzania's Serengeti. Built in the style of a stately Edwardian manor house and refreshed with a light, airy atmosphere, the lodge offers a spectacular vantage point to witness abundant wildlife and the world's largest annual animal migration – the Great Wildebeest Migration. The Edwardian manor-style lodge balances refined splendour and old-world sophistication with casual luxury, creating a quintessential East African safari experience.

Rooms

The lodge features 9 private cottages and a villa, including six one-bedroom cottages, two two-bedroom cottages, one three-bedroom cottage, and one four-bedroom villa, plus an additional Hillside Suite with floor-to-ceiling windows. Each accommodation includes en-suite bathrooms, dressing areas, fireplaces, living rooms, French doors opening onto welcoming verandas, and its own private infinity pool. The cottages feature polished parquet floors, vintage collectables, comfortable furnishings, four-poster beds, deep-sinking bathtubs, and air conditioning, offering complete privacy with unfiltered space to connect with the breathtaking surrounds.

About

The lodge interiors evoke a "Downton Abbey meets African savannah" theme with chandeliers, silver candelabras, and coveted antiques cleverly mixed with local tribal art, tribal cushions, and bespoke décor elements. The main lodge features a grand entrance, wraparound verandahs, spacious en-suite bathrooms, dining area, immaculate lawns for picnics, and expansive views of the endless Serengeti grasslands. Persian rugs, antique furniture, and polished parquet floors offer a timeless setting.

Facilities

The permanent grand structure allows extensive facilities including a clay tennis court, infinity-edge swimming pool that seemingly drops into the horizon, day spa with restorative wellness treatments, library, boutique, gym, and a special temperature-controlled wine cellar where guests can sample and purchase premium wines. The lodge offers magical al fresco dinners in the courtyard under Africa's starlit night sky, with vast Serengeti plains beckoning below. The dining area, wraparound verandahs, and lawns provide extensive outdoor space for absorbing panoramic views.

Activities

Daily activities include morning and afternoon game drives led by professional guides (afternoon drives extend into early evening for nocturnal species), walking safaris for close-up bush encounters, stargazing, community visits, swimming, board games, archery, and tennis. Children enjoy face painting, baking with chefs, and a Mini Rangers' course teaching wildlife identification, tracking, bush survival skills, and astronomy. Guests can also visit the anti-poaching observation post to meet resident game scouts.

The lodge offers a front-row seat to prolific wildlife in the private Grumeti Reserve, with likely encounters including bat-eared foxes, buffalo, cheetahs, Colobus monkeys, antelope species, elephants, leopards, lions, and Masai giraffes. This is a great place to see the Big Five on vast, flat plains far from crowds. The location is perfect for watching the dramatic scenes of the Great Migration unfold – over one million wildebeest, gazelle, and zebra thunder through annually from May to early July as they graze from one swathe of grass to the next.
