Serian's Serengeti Lamai

Serian's Serengeti Lamai

Serian Serengeti is a small mobile luxury tented camp that tracks the Great Wildebeest Migration between the northern and southern regions of Tanzania's Serengeti throughout the year. Originally operating as two separate camps (Serian Kogatende in the north and Serian South in the south), it has now merged into the new permanent Serian Serengeti Lamai camp in the Lamai Wedge area of the far northern Serengeti. The camp offers an authentic African safari experience reminiscent of scenes from the film "Out of Africa", with world-class wildlife viewing in simple, elegant safari style.

Rooms

The camp comprises 8 tents (6 comfortable tents plus 2 family suites) set among acacia trees just 1 kilometer from the Mara River above Crossing Point 4, perfectly positioned to spectate the dramatic wildebeest river crossings. Some sources mention 4 tents plus 2 suites for exclusive bookings. Each tent features enormous wrought-iron beds, Moroccan rugs, tasteful décor lending sumptuousness to interiors, and en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilets and bucket showers heated on the campfire – classic safari simplicity with life's little comforts. The camp is simplistic yet elegant and comfortable.

About

From mid-June to mid-November, the mobile camp operates in the far northern Serengeti plains (Kogatende/Lamai Wedge area), close to the Mara River and major crossing points. From mid-December to May, it relocates to Kakessio in the southern Serengeti short grass plains, prime position to witness the wildebeest birthing season. The Lamai Wedge is home to vast resident herds of elephant, buffalo, zebra, and topi with abundant big cats, blissfully empty of crowds and teeming with floral and faunal abundance.

Activities

Activities center on world-class game viewing with personal guides, offering freedom to explore the rolling savannah that teems with cheetah, lion, and elephant. It's not unheard of to see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino) in a day. Guests can marvel as thousands of wildebeests and zebras plunge into the churning Mara River waters to reach Kenya's grasslands during the famous river crossings (July-October). The camp offers personal guides for exclusive bookings or groups, with relaxed atmosphere and only 10 tents total.

The camp strikes the perfect balance between colonial camping style and elegant accents of comfort – a home away from home in lavish tents. As a mobile camp, it doesn't offer facilities of permanent lodges (no pool or spa), but offers the highest standards of service with large, beautifully-furnished tents. The seclusion means guests have the run of the peaceful intimate place, lending itself to exclusive bookings. The camp is known for excellent guiding by East African professional guides and down-to-earth, personal safaris.
