Oliver's Camp

Oliver's Camp is a luxury permanent tented camp located in the remote southern/southwest part of Tarangire National Park in northern Tanzania, far away from accessible routes. The camp is centred on a simple thatched mess and sits in a spectacular location close to the game-rich Silale Swamps, overlooking a flood plain of the Minyonyo Pools. 

Rooms

The camp offers authentic bush luxury with just 10-15 well-appointed ensuite tents (sources vary), all well-spaced between vegetation ensuring privacy and exclusivity. Tents are colonial-style with comfortable beds, solid wooden furniture, and handmade African mahogany furniture with red leather armchairs matching Tarangire's rusty soils. Each tent features king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, plenty of hot/cold running water, flush toilets, private verandas with lovely views of Tarangire's ubiquitous baobab trees and Minyonyo floodplains, and comfortable chairs. Interiors complement the natural setting with elegant décor.

Facilities & Dining

The camp features a simple thatched mess with modest but stylish lounge and dining areas leading out to a campfire, plus a comfortable lounge/library tent with books and games on surrounding nature and wildlife. The intimate restaurant serves very high-quality dishes and drinks, with meals served commune in dining room or al fresco. There's a large swimming pool to one side for rejuvenation. The campfire in the evening provides gathering spot, and guests can relax on private verandas, in lounge/library, dining tent, or around fireplace under Tarangire sky. The camp crew has been a close team for many years.

Activities

Oliver's Camp is known for offering walking safaris (unique feature – only camp where walking safaris can be taken in Tarangire National Park), with resident guides specializing in tracking animals on foot. Walks range from an hour around camp to full day exploring wilderness zones, best from August to November. Activities also include game drives (day drives), night game drives (unusually for a park camp), and hot-air balloon safaris (additional cost). The activities provide true African adventure with fantastic guiding.
